As a part of  regular lecture program, Dept. of Architecture of South-East University has organized a talk by eminent Architect  Jalal Ahmad on Thursday, April 04, 2019 at its permanent campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka.

About  Architect Jalal Ahmad 

After completing his architectural education in 1983, Jalal Ahmad started his professional career in partnership with two other architects. Later in 1997, he established the practice of J A Architects Ltd.

During the last 34 years, he has designed various projects ranging from large urban academic campuses to low income community housing for the rural poor and small residential projects made of rammed earth to large technologically advanced building projects. He often draws inspirations from traditional art, architecture culture and the landscape

Recently he has won the prestigious AAA 2018 Gold Medal in Tokyo, Japan and was awarded the LafargeHolcim Asia Pacific Sustainable Design Awards jointly with WOHA of Singapore in 2017. Ar. Jalal also won Berger Awards 2015 for 2 of his projects.

He also won prizes in a number of architectural competitions, including Franco-German Embassy at Dhaka Int. Competition (2009), North South University Campus Int. Competition (2002) and Mujib Nagar Memorial Open Design Competition (1984).

His Projects has been exhibited at the Swiss Architecture Museum and Dhaka Art Summit. Projects and articles by Jalal Ahmed have been featured in leading international and national architectural publications.

Projects and articles by Jalal Ahmed have been featured in leading international and national architectural publications. He has presented numerous papers and studies on architectural issues in international and national forums.

He is currently the President (Elect) of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh and the Vice-President, Asia of the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) and also served as Honorary Secretary of Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) during 2009-10.

He has served a part-time faculty in the design studio of the Dept. of Arch. of BUET, BRAC University, Khulna University, AIUB and UAP.
