Places of Memory | From Your Photo Album

We often take photos of the iconic buildings and famous places we visit to capture the moments we value and to make memories. These photographs are the evidence of people’s association with the city’s tangible heritage that collectively constructs the image of that place. We invite you all to send the old photographs from your photo album that you or your family member captured with any historically significant and/or iconic buildings in Bangladesh and is deeply connected with your memory.
Who can participate?
The call is open to all individuals regardless of their age or nationality. The jury board, organizer, and associates are not eligible to participate in the contest.
Media: Color or Monochrome or both (Only digital/scanned copy submission)
How to Participate:
Directly email/wetransfer your photograph/s before the deadline ( March 1, 2021, 12.00 AM (Dhaka Time) until midnight)

(This competition is free to enter. No submission charge are required.)
Submission Format:
– One can submit a maximum of 3 photos
– File Format: 1. JPEG/ JPG
– must be at least 2500 pixels on the longer side. The minimum resolution is 300dpi. Each photo shall not be more than 20MB in size.
– No watermark, border, or any identification symbol or letters are allowed.
( Minor processing of the Photo Images is allowed, including cropping, white balance correction, density correction (brightness, contrast). Photo Images with a frame, collages, heavily processed images are not accepted. Photomontage, erasing, replacing, or changing of parts of images are not acceptable. The Contest Organizer may request that the Contestant provide nonprocessed original electronic files/film of the Entry. )

Renaming the Photos:
Each photo should follow this naming convention-
Participant’s first name_ Serial no_ Place_Year (tentative) of the photograph taken (ex. Robin _ 01_ RoseGarden_1985)
2.A word file ( .doc/ .docx) ( 100-150 words, Bangla or English )
The word file must contain the following information:
A brief about the photo/s:

- When the photograph was taken
- Where the photograph was taken
- What memories and meanings it carries
Participant’s details: Full name; postal address; contact number, email address
3.A declaration that you accept the Terms and Conditions of the competition.
“ I declare that I have read and agree to be bound by the competition Terms and Conditions and that the details provided on the document file are, to the best of my knowledge true and correct.”

Evaluation Criteria:
The participant’s memory association and attachment with the building/artifact.
- The archival value of the photograph
- Historical significance of the place
- Visual composition and relative information.

By accepting the Terms and Conditions you certify that the provided information is true and correct, and the Organizer or Jury are not responsible or liable for any false information submitted by you or anyone else on your behalf.
The photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the participant or his/her family members. By entering the Contest, the participant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the submitted photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity, or intellectual property rights of any other person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the photograph. Please make sure you do not submit any content that might be considered abusive, obscene, illegal, libelous, defamatory, racist, or factually inaccurate.
In nominating Winners, the Jury decision will be regarded as the final one. Judges and curators hold the right of altering any selected images such as cropping, conversion to black and white, flipping, etc. The Organizer reserves the right to cancel or suspend or alter the rules and/or date at any stage if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.
By entering the Contest, all participants grant an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide non-exclusive license to the Organizer (CONTEXT and BAA), to distribute, display, and create derivative works (publication) of the entries (along with a name credit) in connection with the Contest and promotion of the Contest, in any media now or hereafter known, including, but not limited to: Display at a potential exhibition of winners or online highlighting entries or winners of the Contest.
