A Lecture by ARINDAM CHAKRABARTI

Event organized by Bengal Institute for Architecture.

Arindam Chakrabarti is a full-time thinker. Prolific in writing, his work covers Western, Indian and Bengali knowledge-base and aesthetics. Currently teaching philosophy at the University of Hawaii, Prof. Chakrabarti received his MA from Presidency College, Kolkata, and PhD from Oxford University (working under Sir Peter Strawson and Sir Michael Dummett). After being trained as an analytic philosopher of language at Oxford, Prof. Chakrabarti spent several years receiving traditional training in Indian logic (Navya Nyaya). Prof. Chakrabarti has edited or authored nine books, in English, Sanskrit, and Bengali, including “Denying Existence,” “Knowing from Words” (with B.K. Matilal) “Universals, Concepts and Qualities” (with Peter Strawson), and has published more than eighty papers and reviews. He edited the recently published “The Bloomsbury Research Handbook of Indian Aesthetics and the Philosophy of Art.”

This lecture is open to anyone and free to attend. Registration or RSVP is not required.
