Mohammad Habib Reza is an architectural and urban design theorist, historian and heritage expert, and an Associate Professor at the School of Architecture and Design, BRAC University, Dhaka. He is a founding member of the Centre for the Study of Architecture and Cultural Heritage in India, Arabia, and the Maghreb (ArCHIAM), Vice President of ICOMOS-PRERICO. His doctoral research at Nottingham Trent University explored the intersections of architectural history, theory, and cultural heritage. Over the past decade, he has developed the philosophy of New Contextualism, a layered framework for architecture and urbanism integrating ecology, equity, memory, and belonging. He has conducted numerous undergraduate thesis studios on this philosophy at BRAC University and serves on postgraduate thesis committees globally, including MIT, POLIMI, and the University of British Columbia. Dr. Reza lectures on New Contextualism and has led workshops and international symposia on contextual and regenerative design. His work bridges theory, pedagogy, and applied research, positioning New Contextualism as both a Global South contribution to architectural thought and a globally relevant method for resilient futures.
