Winning projects, Foreign Countries’ Architect of the Year in AYA- J K Cement Ltd Award 2019

Bangladeshi architects have bagged J K cement Architect of the Year awards this year in all the three categories of ‘Foreign Countries’ Architect of Year Award’ classification. Ar. Anup Kumar Basak & Ar.  Md. Faysal Kabir have won the foreign architects of the year award for their project- Site Accommodation Facilities for Foreign Construction Staff.  Ar. Asif Mohammed Ahsanul Haq won the commendation award for his project Rizia Porompura at Dhaka, while Ar. Rashed Hassan Chowdhury bagged the Foreign Countries’ Young Architect Award for AJO Idea Space, Dhaka.

The 28th edition of Architect of the Year Awards by JK Cement Ltd was hosted on 14th December to recognize outstanding talent in the field of architecture. This year the ‘The Architect of the Year award’ was secured by Ar. Abin Chaudhuri from Kolkata for the project IQ City Nursing College, Durgapur.

This edition of the prestigious award got an overwhelming response with 250 entries over all categories. Apart from India other countries eligible to participate this year were Bangladesh, Bhutan, Kenya, Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Tanzania & Uganda.

The recipients of the award are selected through critical evaluation and thorough review of the projects by an esteemed jury after intense discussions and scrutiny. The jury for 28th edition was chaired by experts from Sri Lanka, India and Uganda.
