Open Day-Student Project Exhibition starts at UAP

An exhibition of design projects by the students of Dept. of Architecture of University of Asia Pacific (UAP) was inaugurated on 8 May, at the department premise.
The exhibition entitled “Open Day” is organized by Design Club, UAP. The event marks the launching of the Design Club, which is the first of its kind in any institutions which solely focuses on any thing related to architecture and design. Eminent educationist and Vice Chancellor of UAP, Prof. Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury declared the 2 day event open. He was accompanied by Prof. Shamsul Wares and head of the department Dr. Abu Sayeed M. Ahmed.
Open Day features studio and competition projects by the students as well as some installations and graphic art works. Other attractions of the event are lectures by young inspiring architects, documentary film show and open discussion among student and architects.
On the opening day, Ar.Tanzim Ahmed, the lead architect of the liberation war museum shared his experiences and the challenges of working in local context. This was followed by a very lively presentation by Ar. Rashed Chowdhury, about the multi faceted nature of involvement that a young architect find himself into at the start of his professional journey. The exhibition attracted not only past and present students of different architectural schools, but parents and practicing architects as well.
The second day of the exhibition resumes on 9 May at 10 am. The highlight of the day are lecture by Ar. Emran Hossain and Prof. Shamsul Wares in the evening. The organisers are hopeful that the event will mark the start of a new enthusiasm about design related discourses among students and professionals as well as becoming a regular fixture of the academic calender.
